Icelandic Mondays with KAJAK

KAJAKThere are only 3 Icelandic Mondays left until I depart yet again to Reykjavik for Iceland Airwaves!

KAJAK is an electronic duo from, you guessed it, Reykjavik, Iceland. The group consists of cousins Hreinn Elíasson and Sigurmon H. Sigurðsson. What’s cool about these guys is that they are creating this album completely on their own in their homes, using mostly vintage synths and a drum machine, then incorporating live instruments into their performances to add a little extra panache!

Now I haven’t seen this group live yet, but according to the people at Airwaves, they say: “The band is under the influence of tribal cultures and they have found a way to integrate those mythologies and ideas into their sound. KAJAK bring a spirit of life to their live show, mixing visual arts and theatrics making it a special and engaging experience to watch.”

And that sounds pretty cool right?

So you know where I will be during Airwaves, checking these guys out hoping to catch a great live performance by these self-made electro-pop stars. Their first self-titled album does not have a release date yet but is said to be released before the end of 2013.
